9/21/98 MEETING REPORT
The September meeting was called to order at 8:05PM
by Maynard Hirsch, Diana Gonzales and Sharon Anderson.
New member Terry Gaskin was introduced. Guests attending were Ed Filo, John
Diehl and Gordon Anderson.
New Purchases:
Barb McCutcheon bought a 1974 maroon MGB-GT at the British Car Festival.
British Car Festival:
Diana Gonzales gave the update on the Festival. 844 British cars were registered.
Thanks to all the CMGC members that provided help on the day of the Festival.
Don Zbylut from our club won the tickets for the trip to England. Russ Cassolari
won the People's Choice Award for his 1968 MGC. Barney Gaylord won 2nd place
both as the driver and navigator of the Saturday Rally. Dave Bralich will
be the new representative from our club to British Car Union for 1999.
NEW BUSINESS
Model Kits:
Last year our club gave a cash gift to the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.
When he visited the home last year, George Goeppner found that the boys
ages 11-14 are interested in building models of any kind. George would like
to take models to the boys this year, and would like your help. Please bring
any kits you would like to donate to the October and November meetings.
Abingdon Weekend:
There is a strong pre-registration for the Abingdon Weekend. The weekend
will start Thursday and Friday with the 1000 mile Abingdon Trials Rally,
which starts at 7AM at Jumer's each morning. Friday evening will be the
fish fry. Saturday is in Abingdon for the car show in the morning, and the
Gymkhana on the downtown streets in the afternoon. Saturday evening the
awards banquet is at Jumer's, and the weekend will end with the Sunday brunch.
Membership Roster:
Siemens Autocross: Sunday October 11 is the Autocross at Siemens. Location
is I-90 and Barrington Road and will start at 10AM.
Halloween Rally:
Sunday, October 18 is the Halloween Rally. Location is Sun Down Meadows,
on LaGrange Road, 1/2 mile north of I-55. Registration is 11AM, first car
off at 11:45. Scratch paper, pen and maps are necessary.
Engine Pulling Party:
There will be an engine pulling party in Algonquin on Sunday, October 25
at the home of Ray and Madelene Van Tassel. Beer and food will be provided.
More information at the next meeting.
Christmas Party:
Save December 5, 1998 for the CMGC Christmas Party at the 94th Aero Squadron
Restaurant in Wheeling.
Guest speaker:
Kern Fischer from Motive Concepts, talked about many different types of
lights, and drivers schools he runs. For additional information call 630/232-6063.
