It was sometime before Christmas and from all through the land,
Came the MG faithful, party moods in hand.
They converged from the “city” and from small hamlets as well,
As the party room at Patsy’s began to swell.
MG people came dressed in their “holiday” gear,
They talked of rallies and shows and cars, what a year!
There was a contest for the person with the funniest tie,
And for best “Christmas hat” - who won those, said I.
We filled the room with a 100 members, or was it 110,
120 or 130, tons of people and then,
We had drinks and overeues and dinner - good cheer all around,
Talked with friends, made jokes, door prizes abound!
Didn’t drive the MG - in the garage it was sealed,
We took Larry’s Audi, in “comfort” we wheeled!
For Susan and I this was the first part,
Of our Holiday season and man, what a start!
Damn, we had fun and can’t wait for the spring,
When things start to grow and birds start to sing,
When people come out from they’re long winter’s wait,
And you start to see MGs - tops down, yeah, that’s great!
But you know, as I look back at the party we just made,
I looked forward to next year’s - plans being laid,
For the next Christmas gathering, of the faithful - we will steer,
What’s a sugar plumb any way - I don’t care, we’ll drink beer!!
