Spring Tune Up Party at Quality Tire & Auto Darian, IL - April 13, 2003
We would like to graciously thank our host, Mark Leuck, for the use of his facilities for our Spring Tune Up Party. For a very strange occurence, we had no rain this year, but instead only a beautifly bright sunny day with temperatures in the 70’s Go figure! But we did have a very good turnout with more than 20 cars on the lifts for oil changes, lube jobs, steering rack adjustments, brake repairs, underbody inspections, and oh yes, some tune ups too. At one time there were two MGB on adjacent racks, both sporting crushed rear brake lines from towing tie-down chains. That may be a good case for a future tech session. At least one MGB with a fairly decent looking paint job was found to have sacrificed quite a lot of lower sill sheet metal to the tin worm, which was not at all obvious before it was raised on the lift. For nice contrast, a freshly restored chrome bumper MGB was taking bows outside, needing very little in the way of maintenance.
When all of the attending cars were satisfied before 1:00 pm, more than a dozen MGs retired to The Kerry Piper Irish Pub nearby for a well deserved early afternoon lunch. Well at least the passengers had lunch while the cars got to socialize in the car park. And a nice pub it is too, so we should make a point of trying it again next year.
