Wine, Cheese and Beer Tour #3
September 15-16, 2007
The third annual CMGC Wine, Cheese, and Beer tour is almost ready. This year will be a little different as we will not be going to or through Spring Green.
Ann and I are going to drive up Friday, September 14th and spend the night in Rockford. Several of you joined us last year. We had an excellent dinner and got an fresh early start for the weekend. I am looking for a different hotel and restaurant in Rockford. When I have that information it will be posted on the web site and sent to the members who are on my WCB tour email list. If you want to join us, let me know so I can block an appropriate number of rooms for Friday night.
We will start the tour from the Rockford hotel parking lot at 8:30 AM Saturday morning. We will cruise some of Wisconsin’s great MG roads in the morning and arrive at Old World Wisconsin for an afternoon of fun and education. Lunch will be at The Clausing Barn’s restaurant. It is, most appropriately for us, OCTAGONAL!

Dinner will be at Randy’s Fun Hunter Brewery and Restaurant in Whitewater, Wisconsin. I will send everyone on the email list an abbreviated menu for the evening. You can see their full menu at www.funhunters.net. They normally have 5 or 6 of their beers available.
They offer growlers of beer to go (for the parking lot party).
We will be staying at Amerihost Inns in Whitewater, Wisconsin on the 15th of September. I have reserved a block of rooms under Chicagoland MG Club. The room rate is S70.30 + 10.5% tax. The block expires August 15, so please reserve your rooms as soon as possible. We ran out of rooms last year and several couples had to find other accomodations nearby. The hotel’s phone number is 262-472-9400, the confirmation number is FD891506207.
We will leave Whitewater Sunday morning to complete our drive through the scenic back roads of Wisconsin, ending at New Glarus for a visit to their winery. We will have lunch at the New Glarus hotel as we did the first year. They have assured me they will have plenty of their home made Honey Mustard available. That will be the official end to the tour, but you may want to stock up on Fat Squirrel or whatever your favorite is at the New Glarus Brewery.
If you are attending this event, please let me know as soon as possible. I will add you to my CMGC tour email list. - Hope you all can join us!
