On just a couple of days notice at the monthly club meeting we managed to field five MGs for Import Sports Car cruise night in Cary, Illinois. The first was a local non-member Kevin Cunningham red MGA (soon to be a member). Victor L’Heureux was there with his MGB, Barney Gaylord with his MGA, Seth Jones with his Midget, and David Lieb with his Midget.
The show was scheduled for 6:30-9:00 pm, but when it rained (heavily) the trophy was awarded and the show called short just before 7 pm. The Kevin Cunningham’s red MGA took the trophy for best featured car, sorry most of the rest of us missed it. With bad traffic conditions and impending wet weather, the last three MGs arrived shortly after 7 pm to find a mostly empty street. But the restaurants were full and doing booming business, so we managed to have a jolly good time with a bunch of other car enthusiasts in spite of the rain.
One MGA and two Midgets wound down the night by heading home down Northwest Highway with tops down in mild rain a little after 9 pm. Ah, cruising weather.
