The Cobra in the Barn
Great stories of Automobile Archaeology, By Tom Cotter 2005 hardbound , 254 pages, b&w and color photos.
Tom Cotter is a writer for Road and Track magazine. In this volume he is on the hunt for rare, neglected, forgotten, or famous autos from the past. He has collected approximately 45 short stories, mostly written by him, and brought them together into this anthology. As the title implies there are Cobras, but also plenty of Ferraris, E-Types, Boss Mustangs, and MGs.
The stories aren't about restoring the relics, but the detective work and dumb luck it takes to track them down from vague rumors and second-hand information, and of course serendipitous finds. Then trying to find the owners and convince them to part with their cars.
This book shows that those barn finds are still out there, you just have to look and persevere. Foreword (and one story) by Peter Egan. Quit readable.
