John Schroeder's Left Hand Drive
Greetings everyone! It is hard to believe Fall is nearly upon us.
I don’t know when I have had a more enjoyable driving season, since weather has been beautiful for the events we have attended.
Ann and I along with 23 other club members participated in the Secrets of Jo-Davies County tour on the 19th and 20th of August. It was a most enjoyable and well organized weekend during which our tour guide, Dan Herman, showed us some of the beautiful roads of Northwestern Illinois. We had lunch in Savanna at a Biker bar/tattoo parlor/gift and parts store/ and oh yes, restaurant named Poopys. Thirteen cars joined the tour. We stopped in Mississippi palisades, Galena, Council Hill Station, and a winery, before ending the days events at a country club for dinner, before heading back to the hotel in Stockton. Some of our group gathered on the hotel’s front porch, where we socialized with some Harley Riders who were on a tour of their own. Many thanks to Dan Herman for organizing a most enjoyable weekend.
September 10th is the 20th annual all British Car Festival at Moraine Valley Community College. This is a great show where you can see some really unusual British cars. I hope to see many of you there.
Ann and I revisited the Wine, Cheese, Beer, and Shakespeare tour on the 20th and 21st of August. We finalized the route and the stops. We had to move change our lunch stop on Sunday as the group has grown to big for our original choice. We are looking forward to a fund weekend.
The Return to Abingdon weekend is coming up in October. Don’t forget to make your reservations for the hotel and send in your registrations. The registration and more details are in this issue.
There are still many driving opportunities in the next few months. Be sure to check the Driveline calendar and web site for additional events. We always enjoy spending time with our members, old and new. We continue to meet and enjoy the company of MG owners.
We are in need of a new driving events coordinator. If you are interested, or if you need more details about the duties involved, please call or email me. If you enjoy the club driving events please consider helping out.
It is also time to start thinking about officers and staff for next year. All offices are one year terms, so all are up for reelection. Please consider donating some time to keep the Chicagoland MG Club a vital and well organized group.
See you on the road! - John - flobearsmgcomcast.net
