In the afternoon we toured the museum itself. And, of course, no car museum is complete without a reference to the 'Sportscar America Loved First', the MG TC.

My favorite Corvette body style in one of the very nice, period correct, displays in the museum.

In 2014, eight Corvettes fell 30 feet down into a sinkhole that developed under the museum floor. It is hard to comprehend the massive forces at play when the museum floor collapsed. Unlike sheet metal which can be bent, dented, and torn, some of the fiberglass body panels of the Corvette are just no longer there, ground back to dust and disappeared completely, leaving five of the cars unrepairable. The other three sustained much less damage and are back in their pre-disaster condition.
