Monthly Column of Driving Events

Although it is sad that the summer has FLOWN by….Fall is truly a beautiful time of year. After all, the weather in September is still warm and there is plenty of days to take a nice drive in our BEAUTIFUL MG’s…so LET THE FUN CONTINUE!!!

A quick recap on last month’s events are as follows:
There were 4 members including Jim Compton who showed up at the Miata Auto Cross II on Saturday, July 27th. I am sorry to say I am not sure who placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd, but I am sure Jim will write a nice review of the day’s competition! Nice to hear more people participated in this event!!

Kerry Hickenlooper hosted the Peds in the Weeds on August 4th. She said it was another fabulous day out. There were 7 different models of MGs to give rides to the children. It put a BIG smile on their faces as well as the MG member’s faces who were cruising them around! There should be a review on this in this month’s issue.

The Westmont Crusin’ Night hosted by Bill Kalafut and Jean Heasley, once again was a WONDERFUL event!!! There was an impressive turnout of 27 members of which 19 of them drove their MGs. Bill changed up the walking rally from outside to inside his place of business. It was so clever and creative! I am sure you can read the details in this month’s issue.

Congratulations to the winners for the People’s choice awards: Jerry Cihak 1st Ray Harris 2nd and Bob Lee 3rd….ALL THE VINTAGE CARS SWEPT the BEST IN SHOW!!! I am not surprised at all – they are stunning cars!!!! Congratulations as well to Phil Law 1st, Walt Kreitling 2nd and Ray Hanson 3rd for your amazing knowledge on identifying ALL the different MG models for the walking Rally!!!!

I HEARD rave Reviews on The Tally-Ho Rally, again hosted and organized by Carl Vogel. Participation was EXCELLENT!! 30 total MG members of which 10 MGs were driven!! I hope to see a detailed review of this event!! Congratulations to the winners: Gerry Risner & his son – 1st place, Cameron Risner – 2nd place and Phil & Sandy Wydra in 3rd place.

The Miata Autocross III took place on the 24th of August. I will have to find out from Jim Compton how it went and recap next month.
