February is a great month…..do you know why? It is the month for LOVE!!!! Come on….we all LOVE that “over rated”, commercialized Valentine’s Day…right? I know most us woman say we really don’t care, but getting an endearing card from our sweethearts is probably more important to us than flowers, chocolates or a nice dinner out…(although those extra’s go a long way and give you guys major points, if only for that one day…. on the 14th of February!! Believe me guys…we LOVE getting to get you a little something as well!!!!
I found a hilarious quote by Jay leno – “Today is Valentine’s day – or, as men like to call it, EXTORTION day!!   (Sadly to say – it’s true) LOL!!!!

It is also the month for LOVE for our cars getting ready to come out from under the tarp, out of storage and dusted off to bring out to next month’s Swap meet, March 15th!! Last – the LOVE we have in this club. Our car events and most important, our friendships!!!

OK….enough of me getting too mushy, let’s talk about the really GREAT News I have to share with you all…..Tim and I purchased a BEAUTIFUL 1980 Black MGB LE last month from a long time Vintage club member who passed away – Bill Cole. We are so excited for the driving season and be able to be a little more comfortable and have the endurance to go a bit faster and ride more distances, hopefully, without as many breakdowns!!

It was so nice seeing so many members from both the Chicagoland club and the Vintage club at the Holiday party! I thought for sure the nasty weather would deter people from coming out – but it didn’t!!! It was quite the celebration this year! New venue – held at the Diplomat West in Elmhurst, a very challenging Music themed trivia quiz created by Doug Clark – “Master” of fun facts and trivia, a FANTASTIC magic show from our very own Melissa Gonzales!!! (Great show Melissa!!! LOVE YOUR ENTHUSIAM and TALENT!!) and then the highlight of course… (Lol) The Awards presentation!!!!!

This year’s awards were truly a “One of a kind”!! My very talented crafty husband, Tim Schafer, designed and hand made a MG Clock. They came out REMARKABLE!!!

It was VERY impressive and we were so excited to present it to this year’s top award winners:
* The Moss Motor Trophy for 1st place went to Jim Compton & Bob Dorley Totaling 33 ½ points
* The Victoria British Trophy for 1st place went to Dean & Kerry Hickenlooper Totaling 15 points
* The final award presented was the Members’ Choice award presented to Doug Clar for his Fabulous MGs on the Oregon Trial.

On January 24-26 – Once gain – Jake & Ann Snyder hosted and organized the Amtrak Road trip 2019 to La Crosse Wisconsin. I am sure there will be a review on this classic event in this month’s driveline!

This month I will be reaching out to members who may want to organize/host events again for the 2020 driving season. I cannot emphasize enough….I would LOVE to hear from members who want to step up to the plate and organize a NEW tour, gathering, or rally event!!
