Left Hand Drive

Final Word
Forty eight. Twenty four Right Hand, and twenty four Left Hand. That is the number of columns I have contributed to the great CMGC Drive Line. Along with the other monthly contributors, I would dread the email from Victor L’Heureux reminding us to submit our articles by the weekend.
Just like Hearst and McCormick, Victor is the publisher of a widely read news periodical. However, unlike Hearst and McCormick, people probably won’t be lined up willing to pay good money to tour his estate. Too bad, there are a lot of very interesting MG parts lying around in his vast garage.
So here I sit trying to think of what to write in order to avoid the ire of Victor. Tradition dictates that I write about either the virtues of the CMGC or something promoting the MG marquee. Been there, done that. And being the end of January, I really don’t have any relevant tales about driving, cleaning, or working on my MG.
However, I would like to devote this space to congratulating all the newly elected officers of the club. I understand the elections were close. It is gratifying to see members step up and devote their time and effort to keeping the club running smoothly.
Serving the last seven years as the club’s treasurer, vice president and then president gives me a sense of pride and gratification. I would like to thank all the members for their support and assistance.
My only advice, become president during the once every hundred-year pandemic. My first year as president we all stayed home and discovered ZOOM.
And that is my final word.
Stay safe my friends
On the Front Cover:
A red MGA in a typical English setting. The artwork is a watercolour by Michael Salter and is copyrighted to Greetings Card by Graham Dexter and published by GD Publishing in the UK. Interestingly, although the MGA has wire wheels it is identified as an MGA Twin Cam.

As February approaches and the days get colder please stay warm and drink plenty of fluids. Myself, warm water is my choice of beverages. Alas, before we know it March will be upon us. Next April, May, spring, summer. Soon we will be back in our little MG’s. Stay strong!!!
We just had our January virtual meeting and thank you for all who clicked on. It was great to see your faces and hear your voices.
February’s meeting will be exciting. We are going to meet in person! Mr. Beef and Pizza in Mt. Prospect is our destination. Please go to our website and see our email blasts for location. Bring your ideas, comments and stories. We are always looking for new things to do.
As an FYI, our February meeting will be a transition of power. So please we want to see as many people as possible. Victor and Jim our secretary and treasurer would like to step down in their positions. We are looking for volunteers to fill their shoes. Volunteering is a fulfilling activity, you get to meet interesting people, bring people together and learn new things. If you’re interested please reach out to one of our staff members. We’ll be happy to give you more information.
Until, February.
Stay healthy and safe.
