April 18, 2022

24 Members

CMGC President Melissa Gonzales opened the meeting at 7:00 pm. Melissa recognized two new members in attendance: Allan Wilson owns a number of foreign cars (although none British yet!); and Saul Sodos owner of a 1980 red MGB.

Meeting Minutes – March meeting minutes as written in the Driveline were approved.

Staff Reports
Treasurer's report - Treasurer Jim Compton submitted the following via email: as of 04/04/2022 - $16,458 checking, $25,260 savings for a total of $41,718. ($305 in unpaid checks)
Librarian – new books were donated by Wilber Mennell shown at Swap Meet. Still working on updating the library inventory.
Membership – The current membership in good standing is 170 (with 65 members not yet renewed).

Driving Events
Jamie Schafer reported the Driving Events Calendar is filling in. Upcoming events are: Spring Tune-up – April 30th; Car Safety Clinic – May 14th, Spring Chicken Run – May 30th.
Event dates are being firmed up and working on obtaining additional events for the calendar year. Members discussed the driving distances for various types of events - day trips vs overnight events.

Car projects
Phil Wydra – working on installing an electronic ignition
Bill Hedrick – remarked that the MGB-GT that he had been modifying to a V6 is still underway.
Saul Sodo – Bonnet latch is locked and unable to open. Members provided some solutions to this dilemma.
Pat McStay – Has a 16-year-old barn find needing everything – brakes, fuel system, carbs – looking for advice.
Dean Hickenlooper – remarked that his new project – a MGA racecar – has begun.
Bill Kalafut noted that now has a drivable car!

50/50 raffle – Jim Vondran was the winner of tonight’s drawing of $28. Tim Schafer took home four CMGC commemorative pint classes, George Phariss is now the owner of a foot tire pump, and Alan Wilson took home a ‘mystery purse’.

Old Business.
Website Committee –A few more refinements are needed before deployment. Swap MeetJim Evans reported that there were 53 vendors assigned to 72 spaces visited by 423 buyers. Preliminary net profit is $750 with and an additional $500 in parts and raffle ticket sales. With potential shoppers declining over the past years, additional methods of obtaining buyers need to be investigated. Social media (i.e., Facebook) could be an avenue for more exposure.

New Business
Treasurer replacementJim Compton is requiring assistance in maintaining the club treasurer. Kevin Carlson has indicated he would be able to take on this position. Kevin had a few conditions regarding the position being reviewed by the staff. With issues resolved, a member vote was taken and transfer was approved.

eMail Blast! Editor – Dave Novak is looking for a replacement for this position. Dave has all the materials needed to pass on to the perspective replacement. Victor L’Heureux will take on this additional role until Pat Guest is on-board.

New Venue – The CMGC is looking for a new location for our monthly club meetings. Requirements are: able to seat 45-50 members, first floor (or elevator), varied menu with separate checks. Audio/visual access would be a plus.

With no further business to discuss, meeting closed at 8:13 pm.

  Respectfully submitted,
Victor L’Heureux,
CMGC Secretary
