The Steering Column
Here we are at the start of New Year (and to some a new millennium) and an all new set of officers. We have had our first board meeting and are very excited about the upcoming year. For those of you who are new to the organization or not regular attendees to our meetings this is a very special year for the CMGC. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary this year. With that in mind we are planning some new and exciting events this year. If you have any ideas of suggestion please feel free to contact any of the officers.
Last year was a good year for technical assistance and sessions. We had almost a session a month ranging from a front end rebuild to engine and transmission rebuilds. I for one learned a lot. What I find most interesting is that even when doing something that I have done multiple times before I still learn something new each time. The biggest thing that I have learned over this last year (we are talking only about MG’s now) is that the workings of the manual transmission is quite simple and straight forward. A year ago I looked inside a transmission for the first time and last month I rebuild one on my own. With all this in mind I am passing on the Tech session baton. Steve Merical has agreed to take on the fun. Let’s all send him our thanks and condolences.
At this time I would like to thank all of the out going officers. Their dedication and very hard work made this organization strong and enjoyable. I have been president only a couple of months now and am amazed at the amount of work that goes on in the background. I have lost track of how much each and every one of them has given to the CMGC. If we were to list out each individual’s work and contributions we would kill too many trees. The next time you see any of them, tell them “How much you appreciate their hard work and dedication”. Don’t wait for someone else to do it. I missed the perfect opportunity to thank them all publicly at the Awards Banquet and would like to make (be it too late) it up to them.
