Driver's Corner
Wade Keene, Driving Events Coordinator
Our next Autocross will be on August 27 at the Warrenville AMC 30 Theater parking lot, on Winfield Road between I-88 and Diehl Road, the same place we've been having them. We'll start with a driver's meeting at about 9:00 am and go for a half-dozen or so runs. We had rain at the last one and it was loads of fun, odds are we won't have rain for two autocrosses in a row so don't be afraid to come out. It's lots of fun and remember, there's always a novice class if you don't want to compete with Barney.
Entry fee for the Autocross is still $15 per driver. Seat belts and a safe car are required, subject to a brief tech inspection. Bring a safety helmet if you have one, or a few loaners may be available. NO race tires, please; we don't want to wear out our welcome here. We'll retire to a local restaurant afterwards to "evaluate" our performances.
I talked to Dean Swanson and he tells me that the summer tour he put together went very well and people loved the route. I think its unfortunate that only six cars went. Hopefully more can make it to Dan Herman's tour, for either or both days.
