Cut & Weld Tech Day
Saturday, August 24, 2002
9:00 am to 1:00 pm (or whenever)
304 May Avenue, Glen Ellyn, IL
Time for some sheet metal cutting and welding demonstration. Come to learn, or get a little hands-on experience with the tools. We will be demonstrating operation of the club Plasma Cutter and MIG Welder by slicing and dicing on a ’77 MGB which is destined for a better world. Our host will also demonstrate an effective repair to damaged/missing/stripped convertible top mounting brackets (i.e. the three weld nuts that often self-destruct) with the club welder.
This car may be fairly well stripped by tech day, but anything left on the car is fair game and free for the taking, notably a complete heater assembly, some stuff still left in the dash, and a fuel tank that still has gas in it. Incidentally, the club engine hoist may also be on hand. For anyone in need of an engine there are a few MGB 1800 engines and at least two aluminum V8’s available (for sale not free), and other expensive parts for the discerning connoisseur. Call for more information.
